🌸 About Shy Social Club
A gentler way to meet people.
Shy Social Club is a new kind of events space – created for the quietly anxious, the overwhelmed introverts, the neurodivergent dreamers, and anyone who’s ever hovered at the edge of a party thinking, “I wish there was a softer way to do this.”
Hi – I’m Shona, and I started Shy Social Club because I’ve been that person. I was diagnosed with anxiety from a very young age, and more recently found out that I’m neurodivergent. I always felt I missed out on so much socialising because most social events are not created with people like me in mind. Just a few small considerations could change an anxious person’s entire experience.
After years of trying to “fit in” at social spaces that never quite felt built for me, I decided to build one myself – something calm, cosy, and kind. Something that has all of those considerations and doesn’t exclude the shyer souls. I’m excited to finally share this with the world.
🌱 What We’re About
Our events are small, softly structured, and designed to take the pressure off.
They’re held in private, welcoming venues and come with gentle details to help ease social nerves – like:
📝 Welcome packs with information about your host, venue, activity, etc.
💬 Cosy conversation prompts (or quiet areas, if you’d rather just sit)
🛍️ A free tote bag for first-timers – because showing up is brave, and that should be celebrated
📱 The opportunity to virtually connect with attendees prior to the event
No forced fun. No awkward icebreakers. No expectations. No shouting over others and fighting for your chance to speak.
Just soft community, slow connection, and spaces where people who usually feel like too much or not enough can finally feel just right.
💌 Where We’re Starting
We’re launching in Edinburgh, the city that helped me feel safe again.
If the first few events go well, I’d love to bring Shy Social Club to other places too – wherever people like us need a gentle place to land.
This isn’t just about social events. It’s about creating a culture shift – where being quiet isn’t seen as a problem, and where connection feels human, not performative.
Whether you're masking 24/7, stuck in your head, or just looking for a space where silence is okay... you're in the right place.
Welcome to the club.
